Sep 23:39 folderx sorry i had to change the owner name to "user" and the folders name to "folderx" because i cannot publish the real names. The user i am having problem with belongs to the "dom?nen-benutzer" group. "dom?nen-benutzer" is the group owning all the folders in my samba server thanks Alberto - On 28.01.2015 19:39, Rowland Penny wrote:> On 28/01/15 17:07, Alberto Valdes Gonzalez wrote: >> Hello: >> >> I have this user who should have read write permissions in the folders >> >> \\server/folder1/folder2 >> >> \\server/folder4 >> >> Using windows I set the permission for this user but it does not >> work. Have you given 'Administrator' a uidNumber ? might be an idea to post your smb.conf. Rowland

I had some weird thing with trusted domain users where the group membership of the trusted users was ignored. I had a grant access for each user to the file. I think this may have been some winbind bug but never resolved it (it wasn't that critical.) Also , does "getent passwd" and "getent group" (or "getent passwd someuser" and "getent group somegroup" ) show the "Windows" users? and groups? Is this an issue for all users or just a specific one?

[Samba] problem giving setting user permissions on specific folder
Hi Rowland, No, "user" is the owner of that folder not the user i want to grant permissions. lets put it like this voyager /data/company # ls -l insgesamt 0 drwxrwx---+ 1 administrator dom?nen-benutzer 412 15. Jan 13:27 intranet I want the user "peter" to have read and write permissions in the "intranet" folder. The user peter belongs to the "dom?nen-benutzer" group my samba conf for that folder is: [Intranet] comment = Intranet path = /data/company/intranet read only = no store dos attributes = Yes create mask = 0666 directory mask = 0777 Alberto On 28.01.2015 20:04, Rowland Penny wrote:> On 28/01/15 18:45, Alberto Valdes Gonzalez wrote: >> Hi Rowland: >> >> voyager /data/company # ls -la folder1/ >> insgesamt 56 >> drwxrwxr-x+ 1 administrator dom?nen-benutzer 744 26.
