samba - Nov 2014 - problem connecting to windows machine

hello I have a simple configuration that worked, until I rebooted the windows
machine:

~# smbclient -I 1.0.0.2 -L 1.0.0.2 -U administrator
can't determine netmask for eth3
WARNING: no network interfaces found
session request to 1.0.0.2 failed (Called name not present)
session request to 1 failed (Called name not present)
Password:

the server and workstation services are running fine on the machine

Just a guess, because of lack of information:

What's the output of
  # ifconfig eth3
or
  # ip addr show eth3
