[Samba] How to Replace Production Samba AD DC Server with New Server
Hello all, OS=CentOS 6.3 64 bit Samba = 4.1.5 Samba compile and domain option used: $ ./configure --enable-debug --enable-selftest $/usr/local/samba/bin/samba-tool domain provision --use-rfc2307 --interactive I want to replace my running samba server hardware with new server. How should i approach this. One thing which is on my mind is below. Install samba on new server with same compile option used on old with different ip address and subnet since the new is running and then change the ip address. And copy /usr/local/samba from old to new. Will this work ? OR is there any smart and more elegant way to do ? PS: i am using internal dns of samba, and there are about 100 users on domain. regards vikas

But if you do changes on the name/IP, I would join the new machine to the domain, transfer FSMO roles (if the old DC had some) and then demote the old DC. Regards, Marc
