Hello,
I've some problems trying to connect against samba (on SLES 9) with
plaintext password configured in.
I cannot access to the root server and modify smb.conf so I can only
connect from my Debian box to the server share using something relate a
plaintext password configuration.
In Windows XP I can set via register to use plain text when connecting
to a remote sharing but I don't know how to do with Linux.
May you help me please?
When I use the standard tools like smbclient or smbmount or direct with
i.e Nautilus nothing works with the response that the server support
only plaintext password!!
How can I connect with a client to a samba server that support only
plaintext password? (do I have to recompile clients to support it? I
know very well the security implications on using plain text but I
cannot choose here...it was forced to me from the top administrators :( )
thank you in advance,
bye
mutek
