Hi, after setting up a new samba server which will become our PDC for the 2000/XP workstations in our office, I now need to migrate the server to a new domainname, as I used some "testname" while setting up and testing stuff. Is it sufficient to change the domain name in smb.conf *AND* changing it in dn=sambaDomainName? Or are there some other traps I should be aware of (finding the domain name in gencache.tdb for example)? Thanks in advance, Ralph -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Ah, I see :) No, I was talking about the windows domain name, not about the DNS domain name of the systems. These do not change - I just wanted to prevent name clashes between windows domains and workgroups which already exist in our network. The original poster was referring to the Samba domain information stored in an LDAP directory. cheers, jerry ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hewlett-Packard ------------------------- http://www.hp.com SAMBA Team ---------------------- http://www.samba.org GnuPG Key ---- http://www.plainjoe.org/gpg_public.asc "You can never go home again, Oatman, but I guess you can shop there." --John Cusack - "Grosse Point Blank" (1997) -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://quantumlab.net/pine_privacy_guard/ iD8DBQE/TulbIR7qMdg1EfYRAmdbAJ4iuAmgMLii9tnk9aRuzQH56sIkQwCfRf1L buInt7AlfKEQj9KrxhYDgGg=Ikqj -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
