samba - Aug 2003 - SAMBA 3.0.0 RC1 - error while loading shared libraries: unexpected reloc type 0x80

Hello all,

 I downloaded, compiled and installed the new samba version today.
When everything was in place I tried to start it up the first time but it
failed leaving the next message on the screen:

Starting SMB services: /usr/local/samba/bin/smbd: error while loading shared
libraries: unexpected reloc type 0x80

What I am doing wrong?

Compiled with options:
./configure --sbindir=/usr/local/samba/bin --with-logfilebase=/var/log/samba
 --with-smbmount --with-pam --with-acl-support

RedHat version 7.0
gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-85)
