[Samba] win2k almost works!

All,

Set up: 
Red Hat 7.2
Kernel 2.4.9-31smp
Samba 2.2.3a

I have gotten the win2k box to join the domain but no user accounts will
work. The error I get on the windows side is "The system cannot log you
on to this domain because the system's computer account in its primary
domain is missing or the password in incorrect."

I have tried the following to rectify this:
Scoured the archives at: http://faqchest.dynhost.com/linux/samba-l/
Tried the reg hack to enable plain text passwords
Emailed users who posted same issue but have not found an answer
Read the docs in the samba docs 
Read the log of the win2k box which is below.

It seems to try and use the nobody account and I do not know why. The
account I have tried is a valid account and works on a 9x box.

I can map a share and install a printer on the win2k box but still no
user account will authenticate.

Any ideas? Any and all help is appreciated.

[Samba] Errors in logs.

I have a samba+winbind configuration that is used as a public share from all
the users that are currently login in the nt4 domain controller.
all is working ok, winbind is ok, the permissions are sets correclty,
uid/gid to sid asignation is ok.
but i see this error in the logs. im using samba 2.2.3-pre and the
workstations are winnt 4 wrkstation.

" smbd/oplock.c:oplock_breaks  [1878]:   oplock_break: client failure in
oplock break in file Mame2/cfg/default.cfg"
" server nss_wins[3602]:   read_socket_data: recv failure for 4. Error
Connection reset by peer"

the samba server is used as a wins server.
1) represent this errors (are continously) any danger to the shared files?
2)  the same configuration was used in the past but the file server instead
to be a samba was a nt server and all works ok.
