Sorry the Error message didnt come through: Windows: An error occured while reconnecting I: to \\pelican\itc2 Microsoft Windows Network: The local device name is already in use. This connection has not been restored -----Original Message----- From: Kamelia Sadeghi Dadgar Sent: Sunday, March 24, 2002 1:55 PM To: 'samba@lists.samba.org'; 'samba-technical@lists.samba.org' Subject: Error while saving Samba Files- Local Drive name is already in us e!!!!!!>Anyone has been getting this error? Recently just in the past 3 weeks, all our Samba shares on Windows NT 2000, looks as though they are OFFLINE with a Red X marking it as if it is not connected. However, when the user accesses their files,it does connect. User can modify the same file without any problem, but with a new file or a "save as" command. we get this message:> > <<...OLE_Obj...>> >Anyone has any idea what the problem could be? we are using samba 2.0.6 , I even upgraded to the latest Samba , still same problem manifests itself. So it appears that in this case SAMBA is compatable :-) It usually requires at the client side to disconnect from I: and reconnecting it again. It is a good idea in a login script that the client runs when logging into a domain to verify a drive is mapped properly by testing access to a file on it. If the access is not successful, then to disconnect and reconnect the drive. Some people just put a NET USE command in the login script, and ignore the error it returns when the drive is already mapped. This works most of the time. Do not send me UNIX/LINUX questions, as I do not use them.
