Hello.
I have a possible renaming bug in samba 2.2.3a to report. I'll include my
config files and directory map below this text.
I'm using a Windows 2000 pro sp2 client, samba has share modes enabled (not
domain auth), and I have a share mapped (not using UNC). I can rename files
in any directory on the mapped drive except 1. Anything under the directory
"music" I can't rename. I can rename from a terminal window, but
thats it.
Every other directory works, just the one (and any subdirectories) won't
let me rename. I can delete and add files.
The error I get is "Cannot rename <filename>. There has been a
sharing
violation. The source or destination may be in use."
The other thing that strikes me as odd is Windows's Explorer shows each
directory as expandable (with the + sign), even though it is not, until I
click on it. Then the + sign goes away.
I've went to /home/samba and ran chmod 777 * -R, so all the files are set
the same. I've also tried forcing user root for the share, and setting
chown root:root * -R also, but it doesn't make a difference either.
I'm running Red Hat 7.2
All updates from Red Hat's page as of 3/20/02 have been applied (new gcc,
glib, etc).
Vanilla kernel 2.4.17 compiled (after updates were installed).
I removed Red Hat's samba packages (samba-common, -client, -swat, -server,
and samba) and installed 2.2.3a from your RPM.
