Nobody has any idea about the duplication of file that I submittet twice? The problem is I copy a file to a samba share and I have three file like this: pppoe245.htm pppoe245.htm:\005Q30lsldxJoudresxAaaqpcawXc:$DATA pppoe245.htm:{4c8cc155-6c1e-11d1-8e41-00c04fb9386d}:$DATA Davide Parise E-Mail: d.parise@agora.it
Hmm... not sure why, but this may help you track it down... http://linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net/ntfs/concepts/file.html a couple of options that might allow you to stop this happenning are : veto files with $DATA in their name set the filesystem ID to something other than NTFS Martyn At 02:13 PM 3/18/02 +0100, you wrote:> Nobody has any idea about the duplication of file that I > submittet twice? > >The problem is I copy a file to a samba share and I have three file like >this: > > >pppoe245.htm >pppoe245.htm:\005Q30lsldxJoudresxAaaqpcawXc:$DATA >pppoe245.htm:{4c8cc155-6c1e-11d1-8e41-00c04fb9386d}:$DATA > > >Davide Parise >E-Mail: d.parise@agora.it > > >-- >To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the >instructions: http://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba-------------- Martyn Ranyard I am not a member of the samba team, and anything that I say may not be as accurate as a response from one of the team. I reply to save those more qualified time, which can more usefully be spent developing SAMBA further.
There were some postings recently about a similar problem when the user copied a .jpg (or was it .gif?) file. Anyway, I think the problem was coming frmo the little thumbnails that Windows creates when you view a file in Windows Explorer. Afraid I don't remember the solution, though. You should check the list archives, I guess (There is so much traffic in and out of my INBOX -- most of it from this list -- that I tend to have to skim the list postings, and don't always follow through an entire thread). - john --On Monday, March 18, 2002 2:13 PM +0100 Davide Parise <d.parise@agora.it> wrote:> Nobody has any idea about the duplication of file that I submittet twice? > > The problem is I copy a file to a samba share and I have three file like > this: > > > pppoe245.htm > pppoe245.htm:\005Q30lsldxJoudresxAaaqpcawXc:$DATA > pppoe245.htm:{4c8cc155-6c1e-11d1-8e41-00c04fb9386d}:$DATA > > > Davide Parise > E-Mail: d.parise@agora.it
Sorry Davide, I no longer have copies of your original messages. How exactly are you copying the files to the samba share? What OS is your client. What software or environement or shell are you using to copy the file? At a guess, just looking at the type of gibberish in the extra filenames, I would say that you have some kind of corruption in Windows registry. Does the same thing happen with different file types (if you copy a .txt file, say) On Mon, 18 Mar 2002, Davide Parise wrote: Nobody has any idea about the duplication of file that I submittet twice?
