Greetings! I'm running Samba 2.0.10 (fairly old I guess from looking at the web site), on RedHat 7.0. Years ago I was running Samba on Solaris and had this same problem: NTbackup wants to set the Archive bit when it backs up files. This will remove the user execute permission on writeable Unix file systems being backed up with the samba version above and older. Is this fixed in the new stuff?
