-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello: My name is Ruben and I am from Elche (Spain) We are trying to setup a Samba server in our network. Our server is Suse Linux 7.3 Professional, with this version of samba: at:/ # smbd -V Version 2.2.1a at:/ # nmbd -V Version 2.2.1a I think that smbd is running OK becouse we can access to the server using its IP from the outside. But Server isn't answering when it listen a broadcast asking for its net bios name. (We have been monitoring it with tcpdump) Here you have ethernet configuration: eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:E0:4C:AB:0A:FB inet addr:192.168.0.1 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::2e0:4cff:feab:afb/10 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:39324 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:50084 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:19 txqueuelen:100 RX bytes:7863440 (7.4 Mb) TX bytes:44810598 (42.7 Mb) Interrupt:11 Base address:0xe000 All the clients are using the same Broadcast and netmask. - From the server we can use nmblookup with the other pc in the network, but it doesn't resolv its own name in the ethernet interface, but yes un loopback: at:~ # nmblookup server querying server on 192.168.0.255 name_query failed to find name server at:~ # nmblookup server -U 127.0.0.1 querying server on 127.0.0.1 192.168.0.1 server<00> at:~ # nmblookup raquel querying raquel on 192.168.0.255 192.168.0.2 raquel<00> at:~ # Here you have our global settings in smb.conf: [global] workgroup = RED server string = Samba Server %u interfaces = 192.168.0.1/24 security = SHARE keepalive = 30 os level = 2 kernel oplocks = No printing = lprng printcap name = /etc/printcap load printers = Yes NetBIOS name = Server local master = yes preferred master = yes dns proxy = no encrypt passwords = yes smb passwd file = /etc/samba/smbpasswd printing = bsd printcap name = /etc/printcap load printers = yes log file = /var/log/samba/samba-log.%m A lot of thank's and excuse my poor English ;-) Ruben Navarro Huedo http://www.palotes.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE8ilCJ0S5G8AO3zN8RAt1PAJ4gP3iqZ7x598Wq/L/rLwkhR81pUwCgl/YM ASaNIkFDiv5QsqrvrSF3jK4=0ys3 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
