[Samba] missing parameter "share modes = no" in samba 2.2.2 (and 2.2.3 ?)
Hello I?ve scanned the mail-archives for 1 hour now and the documentation before but could?nt find the solution for my problem! PLEASE (in case of any answers, please - again) )CC: to my mail adress, because I haven?t subscribed to the mailing-list. In samba 2.0.7 I could set the share-parameter "share modes = no". This allowed multiple users to access shared files of some "miss-behaving" applications which open these files for the first user in DOS share mode "Deny ALL" (ak. non "net useable" applications) with the consequence, that no second user can use these applications! In samba 2.2.2 this no longer works (I found in "WHATSNEW.TXT" that the parameter is removed!) Is there any configuration or compilation option, to get the "old" 2.0.7 behaviour, ie. to enforce "share modes = no"? Why is this parameter removed? (to enlighten my samba know how ;-() Thanks in advance Regards ari -- ------------------------------------------------------------------- Schule: privat: Ludwig-Geissler Schule Abtlng. Setting it is a very bad idea on read/write shares as it *will* allow applications to corrupt files. Jeremy.
