[Samba] Problems with "hide dot files" and "write list" options
Hello, I run samba 2.2.3a on FreeBSD 4.3 box. My smb.conf is [global] workgroup = INSTALL server string = INSTALL hosts allow = 172.16. 127. load printers = no log file = /var/log/log.%m max log size = 5 security = user encrypt passwords = yes socket options = TCP_NODELAY local master = no domain master = no preferred master = no client code page=850 [inst] comment = Installation path = /HOME1/INSTALL browsable = no write list = writer All users should have read access to inst but only the user readerwriter should have read/write access. And all dot files should be hidden. When I run testparm I get from the [global] section the default values read only = Yes hide dot files = Yes and from the [inst] section: [inst] comment = Installation path = /HOME1/INSTALL write list = readerwriter browseable = No But the user readerwriter may not write to the share. And I see all dot files. Anything wrong with the smb.conf? Thanks in advance. Stefan Witzel PS: I'm new to this list, I hope this is no FAQ. -- Stefan Witzel -------------------------------------- Universitaet Goettingen stefan.witzel at zvw.uni-goettingen.de Stabsstelle DV -------------------------------------- Gosslerstrasse 5-7 fon: +49 551 394160 37073 Goettingen fax: +49 551 399612 Germany --------------------------------------
