[Samba] smbpasswd problems (2.2.2 and 2.2.3) - can't change p assword?
Don, Thanks for the feedback. I have no bind only interfaces or hosts deny, but I did have hosts allow and added 127.0.0.1 to it and restarted the daemon. However, this didn't help. I received a very similar looking debug trace when I tried it. (I'm not even sure if bin/smbpasswd uses smb.conf, to be honest.) I appreciate your suggestion -- thanks -- sorry it didn't solve the problem. Other ideas? (Also sent to comp.protocols.smb - sorry for the duplication, but I didn't get a response from there on my last one so am trying here as well.) smbpasswd is refusing to change the password for one of my users. This occurs in both 2.2.2 and 2.2.3. I have not been able to decipher why smbpasswd fails. I have set this user's password myself, and I cannot set it (as root) then change it (as the user), nor can the user mount any Samba shares (password failure). This user is the last entry in the password file: user:ID#:passwd1:passwd2:[U ]:LCT-3C5DB7A2: Any help would be greatly appreciated. Debug log below. [Samba] smbpasswd problems (2.2.2 and 2.2.3) - can't change p assword?
Hi John, Sorry, nothing off the top of my head. If you want to send me (off list) a copy of your smb.conf file and a level 10 debug, I'll take a look.
