Dear,

I am newbie to samba, can any body tell me how do i synchronize 
the smb password with user's Linux password.

I am not able to sync passwords (smbpasswd and /etc/passwd). RH7 + SMB
2.2.x

passwd chat = *Changing*password*for*user*%u*\n*New*UNIX*password:* %n\n
*Retype*new*UNIX*password:* %n\n *passwd:*all*authenticat
ion*tokens*updated*successfully*\n

Any ideas?

Users are logging into the samba server as a PDC.

Is a passwd program set? Is unix password sync set to "Yes"?

Have you checked that the passwd chat contains the correct syntax for YOUR
linux release?
Try using this if you have Redhat 7.x :

passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
passwd chat = *password* %n\n *password* %n\n *updated*

That should work.

[Samba] Password Sync

Dear List:

I am using an SLES 8 with Samba 2.2.5-UL.

My Problem:

I am using Samba as PDC an would like to use the password sync option. But every
time I trie to change the user password under W2k ( ALT + Strg + Del ) the
/var/log/messages says:

and my Client says he couldn`t sync all the passwords.

Here is what my smb.conf looks like (global part!)
