samba - Nov 2001 - How long does samba buffer open files ?

Hello,

we have a strange thing happen.

Even after the user has closed his application ( in this case Excel ),
the file remains open on the samba server.

lsof shows me the file is open and smbstatus too, but the app IS closed.

When does smbd release the files ?

When the client asks us to.   Sounds like the client network redirector
is holding the file open.  What client OS?
