samba - Nov 2001 - character set problem

I have following configuration in smb.conf

[global] 
workgroup = Pipetki
server string = Server pipetok

security = user 
encrypt passwords = yes 
smb passwd file = /etc/smbpasswd 
username map = /etc/usermap 
socket options = TCP_NODELAY 

character set = KOI8-R 
client code page = 866 

[shares...]


I need russian filenames in samba. But when I changing or upload a
file with russian name, I see with ftp this file with incorrect
character set filename

Can anybody help me?

Does your ftp program handle the chars properly? If it is a windows ftp
program perhaps it expects windows names (cp866).

To verify the samba part you should check if the files are created with
readable names by looking at the server (at the console?).
