Can Samba be configured to point to multiple wins servers? It looks like the wins server option only allows for one IP address.

Remail you question to samba-technical and see if you get a response from Chris Hertel (her was working on it). as I understand it, samba only querries one wins server, though there is no real reason why it can't be re-compiled to querry multiples, or for other applications that use nmbd to querry multiple wins servers. -> -----Original Message----- -> From: Danny Travis [mailto:danny_travis@email.mobil.com] -> Sent: Wednesday, January 03, 2001 9:03 AM -> To: samba@lists.samba.org -> Subject: Multiple Wins Servers -> -> -> Can Samba be configured to point to multiple wins servers? -> It looks like -> the wins server option only allows for one IP address. -> ->
I have a internal firewall with two NIC's. The two network is separated with rules, so they cant share files between each other. I would like both network to use WINS, to reduce broadcast. The problem is that it is possible to see all computers when you click on "neightboorhood", i would like to use two separate WINS databases, and only have one share on the server which everyone have accees to. Is there some way to tell samba to use two separate wins databases? Best regards Adam Helms
