I cannot map from NT to Sun Solaris 2.8 running Samba 2.0.5 using: \\server01\tmp But I can map using: \\server01.domain.com\tmp Or: \\1.2.3.4\tmp I can map from NT to an AIX Samba 2.0.0 box using: \\server02\tmp (don't have to use IP or fully-qualified name) And I can map from the AIX box to the Sun box using: smbclient //server01/tmp Again, don't have to use FQN or IP. What's up? Is this a problem with NT? Doesn't seem like it since I can map to the AIX box. But then I have to ask is it a problem with the Sun Samba, but again, wouldn't think so since I can map from the AIX box to the Sun box. Help, Daniel

Are you sure nmbd is running? Do you use a WINS server from the clients? You will then have to configure "wins server = IP address" in smb.conf. Did you run through the steps in DIAGNOSIS.txt? BTW: 2.0.5 is known the have some bugs on Solaris. You should better upgrade to 2.0.7.
