Is there away to disable reverse name lookup of hostname/ipaddr
within samba?
There seems to be some issue with dynamic dns not being
reversable on our network for some ips for dialing connections
and dhcp leases.
I've gotten a reply indicating, that sometimes the Broken Pipe
problems I'm seeing reguarlly can be caused by the samba
server not being able to reverse lookup a host.
If seen similar problems with NIS, where the NIS and DNS
resolution do not match so a warning/error is logged. So I'm
now using DNS, since it's the most accurate in our network
infrastructure -- but I seem to continue to have periods of
time when samba doesn't want allow connections. I'm working
with our network staff to monitor this problem -- but I
think disabling reverse look ups would help.
