Hi, I have Samba version 2.0.0-beta1 on linux kernel 2.0.30, something old. I changed the ip number (192.168.1.4 for XXX.XXX.XXX.XX, a valid ip number) of this machine and then nmbd doesnt run anymore. The log show this message: [2000/12/11 11:34:50, 0] lib/util_sock.c:open_socket_in(663) bind failed on port 137 socket_addr=192.168.1.4 (Cannot assign requested address) [2000/12/11 11:34:51, 0] nmbd/nmbd_subnetdb.c:make_subnet(135) nmbd_subnetdb:make_subnet() Failed to open nmb socket on interface 192.168.1.4 for port 137. Error was Cannot assign requested address When I change and ip what modification do I make in samba software? Thank in advance. ------------------------------------------------- Lic. Eduardo, Check your smb.conf file; perhaps you neglected to change your "interfaces=" line to the new ip address. Don -----Original Message----- From: Eduardo A. What it tells you is: You configured me to use 192.168.1.4 but there is nothing like 192.168.1.4 around.
