Called name not present error - samba 2.0.7, SPARC Solaris 2.7
Hi folks... I am trying to run samba 2.0.7 on SPARC Solaris 2.7. I have tried both the source and binary releases and get the same error with both: root@chef:/opt/samba/bin:./smbclient -L chef added interface ip=192.168.1.200 bcast=192.168.1.255 nmask=255.255.255.0 session request to CHEF failed (Called name not present) session request to *SMBSERVER failed (Called name not present) root@chef:/opt/samba/bin:./nmblookup chef querying chef on 192.168.1.255 192.168.1.200 chef<00> 192.168.1.200 chef<00> root@chef:/opt/samba/bin: The server name is chef and it's IP is 192.168.1.200. One thing that puzzles me is that smbclient -L localhost works OK and lists the one share that I have defined, so its almost as if samba isn't binding to the ethernet interface? As a point of note, the smb.conf file is one from our previous Sun box that ran samba 2.0.7 under SPARC Solaris 2.6 with exactly the same hostname and IP address and worked with no problems. Has anyone seen this before? I'd be grateful for any pointers as to how to fix this problem as I really need to get samba running on this box.
