The samba agent does exist (I should know as I ported it). I tried to
convince them to open source this as well but was unsuccessful. It
isn't all that difficult to write an agent since they give you sample
code, so if you don't want to pay for one, you can write your own.
I cannot blame SGI for wanting to keep the agents out of open source
as they are the "value add" you get. There has been many years of
developement that went into the FailSafe product at a great deal of
expense to SGI. The fact that they open-sourced the major portion
(all you need actually to implement FailSafe) should be applauded.
If they still want to sell "extras" that is completely within their
rights.
