Everything is working perfect on win95 but from NT4: I can create, delete and rename files I can create and delete directories Problem: I can't rename created directories from the NT4 workstations on the network. And this is a big problem since NT4 creates a "New Folder" and asks you to type in the name you want. I have a 2.0.6 distribution on a SGI Origin200 Irix6.4 server. I need to have everybody to have access and have set it up as a "security = shared" in sbm.conf I have during the last two days - updated to sp6a - made the registry setting for non-encrypted passwords - tried the diagnostics - read all documentation - searched through the samba archives - updated the Irix6.4 to latest patch release I have not yet tried to downgrade...and I have not tried other "security" settings than shared. This must be a bug or? Lars Rikart Jensen e-mail: lrj@ite.dk
Can you send a copy of the output of testparm and the share name that you were trying to rename the directory in? This works fine on my system. I'll try to reproduce your results. -- =====================================================================Herb Lewis Silicon Graphics Networking Engineer 2011 N Shoreline Blvd Strategic Software Organization Mountain View, CA 94043 herb@sgi.com Tel: 650-933-2177 http://www.sgi.com Fax: 650-932-2177 ======================================================================
Hi Herbert It looks like everything is working now. I got a disk error about a non existing inode at some point. After a xfs_repair on the gfx disk (where I had to delete lost+found due to xfs_repair exiting with an error). I believe the error was due to inconsistencies on the unix filesystem for the samba share. If you want I can generate a log-file tomorrow anyway.... Thanks for your prompt help. I need the log.<machinename> for the machine you used to try the directory rename. -- =====================================================================Herb Lewis Silicon Graphics Networking Engineer 2011 N Shoreline Blvd Strategic Software Organization Mountain View, CA 94043 herb@sgi.com Tel: 650-933-2177 http://www.sgi.com Fax: 650-932-2177 ======================================================================
Dear Herbert and samba list It turns out that the problem with rename of new directories has reappeared today. Now here is the log, which as I understand tries to open the directory as a file when renaming. Any idea why this can be. And a solution. (I read something about a nttrans.c but I'm not able to compile myself.) Complete log is attached.
