samba - Sep 1999 - Does EMC use Samba for CIFS?

I have heard that EMC might be using a port of Samba for their CIFS
protocol. Can anybody support or refute this? 

Are there any commands that can be issued or any operations that can be
performed and sniffed to verify this one way or the other?

I should have been more specific. I was referring to their network attached
storage product called Celerra. The Celerra is used to "front end" the
Symetrix, which is what you seem to be describing.
