samba - May 1999 - opening samba shared file problems with Windows 2000 B3

Hi,

After installing Windows 2000 B3 (build 2031) I have noticed 
some weird problems with my samba (2.0.4b shares).  Copying files 
to and from samba shares seems OK, but trying to open a file from 
a samba share with a local application is VERY slow or times out.  

Anyone else seen or heard about this?
