samba - Nov 1998 - How to share the server's CD-ROM?

Hello friends,

Have you tried to share the server's CD-ROM so that the client stations can
install software directly from there? I have no problem with that until I
access the CD files and got "write protected" messages.

In fact, the CD _is_ "write protected". :-)

Try to make your share read-only in smb.conf.
