I'm setting up faxing from our server using mgetty+sendfax, and the setup
from http://relay.boerde.de:82/~horstf/
Basically, what this does is collect the print job normally via samba print
services, then asks the user what number to fax it to. The asking is done
by a program run on the user's system at startup called 'responder'.
I have installed the print drivers on to the server (as per printers.txt)
and everything works fine, except that I still have to go around and
install the 'responder.exe' program on all the machines manually. I
don't
want to do this, obviously.
I've played with adding files to the driver, and the problem I'm having
is
getting things into the proper directory - I can't seem to get files to go
out of the \windows\system directory tree. Anyone know if this is possible?
I CAN do something different (I could e-mail a batch file to everyone that
copies responder from the server) but I'd like all the bits to install when
you install the print driver. Any help would be appreciated.
Next question:
Does anyone know what the differences are between NT and 95 print drivers
as far as the server is concerned? I can build an appropriate printer defs
file by hand, if someone can tell me what it is that will tell the NT box
that the server has a driver for it, I'd love to know. Thanks.
