Sorry that I will ask a kind of a vague question, but I don't really know how to proceed at the moment: Some of our Samba (1.9.18p10) users experience the following problem: they map a drive to a Samba share (pointing into AFS, if that matters) and see all files/dirs correctly after the password dialog. 'Some time' later (for one user usually about one hour) they try to use the drive again and find that the drive/dir looks empty. A disconnect and reconnect solves the problem. This problem is only with some users (Win95 and NT4) of the Samba server, f.e. I can't reproduce it for me. I don't see any problems in the log with loglevel=2, and I simply don't know how to extract the important information from the log in the higher loglevels :-(. Any ideas are welcome on how I should proceed, what the problem could be etc ...!!! I append a log snipped, which was generated during one of this 'empty directory' listings with loglevel=4, maybe the experts can tell something from it: switch message SMBopenX (pid 142426) unix_clean_name [] unix_clean_name [] Allocated new file_fd_struct 3, dev = ffffffff, inode = ffffffff 1998/09/15 14:18:11 gg opened file ./ read=Yes write=No (numopen=3 fnum=91) set_share_mode: Created share record for ./ (dev 1 inode 25821394) set_share_mode: Created share entry for ./ with mode 0x40 pid=142426 del_share_modes Deleting share mode entry dev=1 ino=25821394 del_share_modes num entries = 0, deleting share_mode dev=1 ino=25821394 fd_attempt_close on file_fd_struct 3, fd = 12, dev = 1, inode = 18a00d2, open_flags = 0, ref_count = 1. 1998/09/15 14:18:11 gg closed file ./ (numopen=2) 1998/09/15 14:18:11 error packet at line 1404 cmd=45 (SMBopenX) eclass=1 ecode=5 1998/09/15 14:18:12 Transaction 1493 of length 96 switch message SMBtrans2 (pid 142426) call_trans2findfirst: dirtype = 22, maxentries = 6, close_after_first=0, close_if_end = 0 requires_resume_key = 0 level = 260, max_data_bytes 2432 unix_clean_name [./CONTRACT/*.*] unix_clean_name [contract/*.*] unix_clean_name [contract] 1998/09/15 14:18:12 error packet at line 702 cmd=50 (SMBtrans2) eclass=1 ecode=2 error string = Permission denied 1998/09/15 14:18:12 Transaction 1494 of length 92 switch message SMBtrans2 (pid 142426) call_trans2findfirst: dirtype = 4118, maxentries = 6, close_after_first=0, close_if_end = 0 requires_resume_key = 0 level = 260, max_data_bytes 2432 unix_clean_name [./CONTRACT] unix_clean_name [contract] unix_clean_name [./] creating new dirptr 0 for path ./, expect_close = 1 1998/09/15 14:18:12 Transaction 1495 of length 41 switch message SMBfindclose (pid 142426) reply_findclose, cnum = 2, dptr_num = 0 1998/09/15 14:18:12 SMBfindclose cnum=2, dptr_num = 0 1998/09/15 14:18:12 Transaction 1496 of length 50 switch message SMBgetatr (pid 142426) unix_clean_name [./CONTRACT] unix_clean_name [contract] 1998/09/15 14:18:12 getatr name=contract mode=16 size=0 1998/09/15 14:18:12 Transaction 1497 of length 79 switch message SMBopenX (pid 142426) unix_clean_name [./contract] unix_clean_name [contract] Allocated new file_fd_struct 3, dev = ffffffff, inode = ffffffff Error opening file contract (Permission denied) (flags=0) fd_attempt_close on file_fd_struct 3, fd = -1, dev = ffffffff, inode ffffffff, open_flags = 0, ref_count = 1. 1998/09/15 14:18:12 error packet at line 1391 cmd=45 (SMBopenX) eclass=1 ecode=5 error string = Permission denied 1998/09/15 14:18:12 Transaction 1498 of length 79 (Can I learn somewhere, how to interpret this?)
