Hello, Does anyone have done a setup of the samba server in such way that the user on a Windows NT4 client must enter his/her username/password to use a printer service ? Is that possible? I manage to have this working with Win95 with the option public=no but it does not seems to work for NT. The goal is to have a control of the printer usage. (accounting) I'm controlling the samba servers but not the Windows machines around. Thanks for the hints! Hello! I am running unix/samba as printserver in an mixed network with mostly NT4 clients. A nice thing would be if clients could use printerdrivers located on an server as they could with an NT-server. Users could then just point out their printer without specifying any printdriver. I have read PRINTER_DRIVER.txt and accordning to that text this is not possible with NT4 clients. My questions are: 1. Is there any way to get this working with NT4-clients? 2. Other suggestions to get "Connecting to Printer" as easy as possible for clients. Printerdrivers might be installed locally but installation should be "automated". I am using Solaris and Linux boxes. Printers are mostly HP. __________________________________________________ Best regards Johnny Nordman email: johnny.nordman@uab.ericsson.se Tfn: 063-169745 INT +46 63 169745
