I'm logged into a Windows 98 machine trying to attach to a HP/UX 10.20 machine named 'behemoth' running samba 2.0.3. When I try to do a 'net use z: \\behemoth\oracle' to map user oracle's home directory, it fails telling me the password is incorrect. The catch here is that I am logged into the Windows 98 machine as jason and it won't let me use oracle's password to map the drive. Is this correct behavior? Do I have my '[homes]' section misconfigured? This used to work in 1.9.x... I can also replicate the behavior using smbclient '\\\\behemoth\\oracle -U jason'. Thanks in advance for any assistance Jason Duerstock Baffled System Administrator Applied Automation Techniques
Hi I have a login in problem EXACTLY the same as mail message-Id: <3.0.5.32.19980201175844.0079bb80@wgss.net> ie I am having a little problem with executing logon scripts on Win95 clients, logging into Samba Netlogon service. When a user logges in, a MS-DOS prompt shows up and quicky disappears. I have done the logon script in MS-DOS editor. I have the identical copy of the batch file on the Win95 machine. If, I run the logon.bat script in ms-dos prompt manually, it all executes successfully. My [netlogon] share looks like: [netlogon] comment = Samba Network Logon Service path = /usr/local/samba/netlogon browseable = no guest ok = no writeable = no In [global] I have: domain logons = yes logon script = LOGON.BAT therefor, the complete path of the LOGON.BAT is: /usr/local/samba/netlogon/LOGON.BAT The permission is: -rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 340 Feb 1 17:16 /usr/local/samba/netlogon/LOGON.BAT I am using v2.0.4b From samba, I can see the PC user is accessing the LOGON share. I would be very grateful for any ideas. Regards, David Allen
I have two computers connected to my Samba server, and I am having trouble logging in on the one. Scenario: Samba Server is NEON Notebook computer is XENON and will connect fine as SSCOTT (user in Unix also) with the proper password. Desktop computer is MERCURY and can connect fine as SSCOTT2, or another user with the proper password. However, if I try to connect as SSCOTT on this computer, then it fails with "Neon is not accessible. No permission to access resource." If I shut down the notebook computer, and try this again, it still fails. I can however, see everything fine if I use a different login name. Is there a known problem here with trying to use the same account from two machines at the same time, or even two different computers at any time? Steven Scott Solution Consultants Inc. Hi all. I am using Samba 2.0.7,REV=1 on a Sun Solaris box. I set this up about two years ago. The last month or so I have been having problems with it. We have a Windows 2000 domain controller that the users log in to. The clients are Windows NT4.0 are Windows 2000. I primarily use Samba for printer sharing. There is a OCE9400 printer on one of the Sun boxes. Samba is installed on another Sun box. Now the Windows users can seem to log on any more. It gives me the following error when I try: net use x: \\rsd5\usr4 /user:RSD\don. System error 1240 has occurred. The account is not authorized to login from this station. It gives me the same error if I try root or any other user. Can anybody please help. Hi Andrew, After I have spend an extra time and I'm starting to get lost and need a help please from the samba team. I have a current running samba which is an old version (I think 1.9.16p9) and running on solaris 2.5.1 the problem I have with this is the TCP delay which caused an issue with the window client. I have download an update version which is 2.2.7a and I have also installed gcc 3.3 as per recommended and I have installed this successfully I think ! I assume its ok because when I run the testprm and give me no errors although a lots of option which I'm still trying to understand and need a help for clarification from you please. The main problem I have here is that I can see the server which I installed samba on but when I try to double click and to see the share option which I stated in the smb.conf I need to supply the password and the password that I set on the server when I entered in is invalid and hence I cannot make the connection to the server or cannot map the drive also from the window client. I have tried so many combination and no matter what the password I entered in is invalid. I have put the old samba copy back and run it works ok with the password and able to map and see the available share from the server. Could you please guide me to where the area I should do and look for as I'm getting lost and need a help. Thankyou in advance Regards Rudi
