Hello everybody! I am running here a 1.9.18p2 Samba Server, over a AIX 4.2.1 box, and I am facing the following problem: Everytime that I start browsing the Samba server from my W95 client, it asks me a password for the IPC$ service, wich I supply as a null password, and after that I am able to use all of my Samba shares, including the public and private ones. I am using a NT box as my password server. Does anyone know how to prevent this initial password dialog for the IPC$ service from happening? TIA, Carlos Zottmann zottmann@stj.gov.br
This is probably a FAQ, but... Is there a way to make a Linux Samba server NOT ask for a password for IPC$ when someone browses from a Win95 client (using Network Neighborhood or whatever)? Currently the users need to type in their login password for the Linux box they are browsing. -=[ Count Zero / TBH - Jussi H?m?l?inen - email count@theblah.org ]=-
I have a Samba server running and want to support one windo$e machine for now. I have reviewed the achives and found many solutions to accessing Samba share from windo$e "neighborhood network." I get that IPC$ password request box and none of the passwords I use work. (Yes, I have set windo$e to have the same login and password as Samba.) Sadly none of archive solutions work. I tried turning off encrypted passwords and setting windo$e for plain passwords. Did not work, went back to encryption "on." I tried "share" level security and no luck. I am running RedHat 7.3 and installed the Samba 2.2.3 that came on their CD's. RedHat support archives are "down" and have been for more than two weeks. No help there. Decided to try this mailing list first. Help, PLEASE. -------------- next part -------------- HTML attachment scrubbed and removed
