rsync - May 2014 - can rsync server side returns some status code to rsync client?

Hi,

I'm wondering, when using rsync, other than just transferring files, can
the server side returns some status code to the client side? For example,
if the client wants the server to check sth, how can the server side
returns SUCCESS or FAIL or more complicated value to the client? does rsync
have such a mechanism in the code?
