rsync - Apr 2005 - [Bug 1959] writefd_unbuffered failed to write 4092 bytes phase send_file_entry broken pipe

building file list ... rsync: writefd_unbuffered failed to write 4092 bytes: 
phase "send_file_entry": Broken pipe
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(515)

This method works on all of our servers except this one.

Is there any way to resolve it?

just guessing...
/tmp full? or bad perms?
