Rails - Jun 2014 - nokogiri missing libiconv error. Chapter 3 of RoR book tutorial

I posted a question on stackoverflow but it hasnt been much help:

I also followed the homebrew instructions to get libiconv. I have it 
downloaded and installed but whenever I run gem install nokogiri. I get the 
same error 

ERROR:  Error installing nokogiri:

ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension.

I checked /usr/local/Cellar and I have a libiconv direcotry in there but I 
always get the error saying libiconv is missing
