Hi there everybody! I am a prototype user for about 2 years. One of the reasons I have opted for using Prototype is because its Ajax Library functions. There was a lot of talking about the Ajax benefits loading page time, that it''s too much fast and there was not reload page... and so one. Today, most of the websites and webservices developted for me are based on this framework. I like to use that because it is easy to use and I''m a little bit addicted in prototype javascript tools. It''s been very useful for me. However many people always have been claimed about the loading time of my websites pages. For a long time I thought the reason for that was the Internet connection or the traffic during a period of the day. But all the sites have the same peculiarity. They have a delay about 5 seconds to load a page... and it''s really slow. It''s not good. You can see some examples here and clic on the menus: www.novoexecutivo.com.br www.clicyoga.com.br www.derosecampinas.com.br I don''t know if I''m doing something wrong. I''d really like to improve that. I''d like to continue using prototype too. So, please, I hope some of you could help me with some tip. Thanks a lot. Read Yahoo''s performance guidelines: http://developer.yahoo.com/performance/ Of particular interest might be 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 10. Re: prototype ajax loading page time is really slow?
The only performance issue I see is on the load of the first page before the browser has anything cached. The initial page load is retrieving a large number of files which equate to almost 745 KB of data. The sheer numebr of HTTP requests to get all the page parts seems to be one issue. Re: prototype ajax loading page time is really slow?
The only performance issue I see is on the load of the first page before the browser has anything cached. The initial page load is retrieving 38 different files totalling 745 KB of data. Thats 38 HTTP requests and browsers only allow a specific number of concurrent requests (4 by default?), so the requests get queued up. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Spinoffs" group. Re: prototype ajax loading page time is really slow?
Quite possibly there could also be a delay in initialising so many flash files on a single page but don''t use much flash myself so cannot confirm/deny this. Anyone?
