Hi everyone! I am looking for a good Javascript IDE. Complete code-completion, should understand object oriented models and anonymous functions. Any suggestions? PS: Im on windows. _______________________________________________ Rails-spinoffs mailing list Rails-spinoffs-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org http://lists.rubyonrails.org/mailman/listinfo/rails-spinoffs
I think JEdit and Eclipse are the best options available but I''m brand new to JS so probably not the best person to answer. Eclipse + JSEclipse plugin works well for me and the plugin is prototype/scriptaculous aware. http://www.interaktonline.com/Products/Eclipse/JSEclipse/Overview/ free for personal use but is quite cheap for commercial use. Can someone explain Eclipse to me? I don''t understand what the pieces are. If I wanted to use the referred to solution, what components of Eclipse would I need (plus the JSEclipse plug-in)? IntelliJ has accepted my Project for their opensource program and it totally rocks. It does support anonymous functions and classes without any problems. I can only recommend this editor. It comes with wonderful code completion (even xml) and alot more aiming to get stuff done fast. Thanks for this suggestion, Ahmed! Do any of these IDE environments have built-in FTP which will move "modified" files to the remote site? IntelliJ does have CVS, SVN and via plugin also FTP support.. there are numerous plugins availble who are able to do all kind of things. I haven''t figured it all out but from my knowledge this IDE can do that. If i remeber correctly JEdit can do FTP stuff do but CVS. regards, kjell On 6/29/06, Sam <sam.google-Uc2IQQBAS6sAvxtiuMwx3w@public.gmane.org> wrote:> > Do any of these IDE environments have built-in FTP which will move > "modified" files to the remote site? > > Sam > > > _______________________________________________ > Rails-spinoffs mailing list > Rails-spinoffs-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org > http://lists.rubyonrails.org/mailman/listinfo/rails-spinoffs > > >_______________________________________________ Rails-spinoffs mailing list Rails-spinoffs-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org http://lists.rubyonrails.org/mailman/listinfo/rails-spinoffs

There is even a plug-in with additional javascript support: http://www.sixthandredriver.com/inspection-js.html It''s commercial and from another company. Since it''s a companion product, it has guaranteed no overlapping features with IntelliJ: http://companions.jetbrains.com/ AFAIK it also has some support for open source projects: http://www.sixthandredriver.com/opensource.html But in this case I''m not that sure if they give away so easily open source licenses, since the company is pretty new and small. Anyway it''s worth trying. For those coding allot in Javascript this plug-in is invaluable. Ahmed.
