Rails spinoffs - Oct 2005 - triggering event handlers

I''ve registered onClick events I want to trigger from javascript, but  
can''t seem to find a way to do this. It seems like it should be  
obvious and easy, but I''m not finding the answer. :-(

Argh. I knew it was just as simple as calling .click(), but I''m  
calling it on an object that doesn''t have the click() method...

So how can I call click() on an href?
