Hello, each time I''m searching for rails plugins or tutorials I am not sure if the found source is up to date. For example: 1. wiki.rubyonrails.org ----------------------- When I looked at the rails wiki some weeks ago I found some old plugin related arcticle covering pre 1.0 or at least pre 2.x things or things you "should not do anymore". 2. plugin directories --------------------- In addition the popular plugin directories like http://agilewebdevelopment.com/plugins http://railsify.com/ and http://www.railslodge.com/ seem not to have or not to use a tagging mechanism to indicate rails version compatibility or project activity. So it''s relatively easy to dig out a plugin that''s unmaintained since 2006 or just broken - not good. 3. private blogs / screencasts ------------------------------ There is an overwhelming number of awesome great how-to articles and screencasts - unfortunately some don''t containt a creation date or a rails version number. That makes it very hard to recognize old stuff (which might be still useful if you use rails 1.2 but not 2.x for example). suggestion: ----------- Things I would personally appreciate: - Add tagging to wiki.rubyonrails.org, tag the arcticles to the corresponding framework version => seems not that complicated? - Admins of plugin directories: please add a rails version indication to each plugin => well, what do you think? should be possible? - Authors of how-tos and blog postings: please add the used rails version / date of the arcticle => rational appeal :-) Does this make sense? What do you think? ...and how can I help (e.g. extend the wiki functionality)? best regards, Roland --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Core" group.
