Rails core - Apr 2008 - Rails trac etiquette - should I assign a ticket to myself?

I have been looking into a few tickets that others have posted to the
rails trac site and I am wondering if it is appropriate to assign a
ticket that I am working on to myself - or should I leave it on
''core''?

Definitely feel free to assign the ticket to yourself,  ''core''
should
be considered ''unassigned'' as I don''t believe anyone
gets its emails.
