Adecco Engineering and Technical, a division of the world leader in the recruitment of scientific, engineering and information technology professionals, has an immediate opening for a Bioinformatics Statistician for a 12 month CONTRACT opportunity with a leading company in Durham, NC. Duties include: 1) Working directly with laboratory and greenhouse scientists to optimize experimental processes by analyzing existing collections of experimental data and providing guidance on optimal combinations of experimental conditions. 2) Consulting with scientists to develop prospective experimental design and statistical analysis plans for field, greenhouse, and laboratory studies, including providing power calculations to improve the ability of experimental data to distinguish between competing hypotheses. 3) Providing formal and informal training to scientific colleagues on basic statistical techniques, including developing written materials, workshops and seminars. 4) Writing code in R to accomplish necessary analyses. 5) Obtaining/reformatting data from a variety of sources to create analysis datasets; providing instructions to scientists on necessary data format for submission for statistical analysis; developing data collection forms. 6) Working with software programmers to develop tools for scientists to use in analyzing their data. 7) Recommending data management solutions. 8) Evaluating and recommending statistical software. Requirements A master's degree in statistics or biostatistics or a closely related field. Experience applying statistical methods to experimental design and optimization of biological experiments, preferably in a business setting. Training in and experience using linear models, non-linear models, power calculations, non-parametric methods, longitudinal models, general linear models, and combinatorial design of experiments with many factors. Excellent written and spoken English and demonstrated ability to communicate statistical ideas to non-statisticians. Demonstrated ability to work independently.
