What are inner and outer matrix multiplication. Kindly guide me where to look
for this Wikipedia was not much help.

I'd need some context to be sure, but some use tr(AB) as the inner product
in a space of square matrices and the kronecker product (see its help page) is
sometimes called an outer product.
