Have just compiled and installed R-65.0 on RH 6.0 with all the latest updates for RH and Gnome (including `libglade-0.3-1.i386.rpm' and `libglade-devel-0.3-1.i386.rpm' from RH ftp). R.X11 works OK. But when I try `R --gnome' I get a segmentation fault/core dump with the messages: Gdk-CRITICAL **: file gdkfont.c: line 174 (gdk_font_id): assertion `font != NULL' failed. Gdk-CRITICAL **: file gdkfont.c: line 133 (gdk_font_ref): assertion `font != NULL' failed. .................etc., etc. 1) `gdb' shows (for what it is worth): Core was generated by `/usr/local/R65/lib/R/bin/R.gnome' #0 0x4024034d in gtk_text_size_request () 2) I can't find the file `gdkfont.c' anywhere on my system. Should I be able to and if so can anybody tell me which package/library contains `gdkfont.c' ? Is this my stupidity or worth reporting as a bug or already known? ************************************* Alexander Volovics Dept of Methodology & Statistics Maastricht University, Maastricht, NL ************************************* -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~hornik/R/R-FAQ.html Send "info", "help", or "[un]subscribe" (in the "body", not the subject !) Almost identical setup, except that I had a libglade straight from ftp://ftp.daa.com.au/pub/james/gnome/ there's a 0.4 version of libglade as of last Wednesday. (This is a pretty rapidly moving target - because GNOME is - and the whole thing is experimental, but bug reports are still welcome.) -- O__ ---- Peter Dalgaard Blegdamsvej 3 c/ /'_ --- Dept. of Biostatistics 2200 Cph. It is possible I suppose that you have too recent versions, as well as possible that you have too old ones. That does work on both my RH6.0 systems, and it was critical that I upgraded the gtk+ packages; before I did I got similar problems. I have moved this to R-devel, as a more appropriate place IMHO. -- Brian D.
