The other problems with source() are (1) reading from stdin so that
one can create self contained files. (2) Even if possible, it
would also be nice to be able to put the data at the end of
the file so the code is not broken up by potentially large
stretches of data.
Number (1) can be addressed by pasting the output of dput
into your file but its not pretty. A workaround addressing
both (1) and (2) is in:

Perhaps these two considerations could be taken into account
if source() is being revisited.
