The current code snippet in panel.stripplot is:
if (is.null(groups)) 
        panel.xyplot(x = x.jitter, y = y.jitter, ...)
else panel.superpose(x = x.jitter, y = y.jitter, ...)

Because groups is passed as a function argument in panel.stripplot and is not
part of the list(...), the "else" should read

else panel.superpose(x = x.jitter, y = y.jitter, groups=groups, ...)

Right. Will be fixed in R 1.7.0.
