[Puppet Users] kernel 2.6.18-274.7.1.el5 will cork your puppet clients
This keeps getting mentioned, but people keep coming onto IRC and the mailing list re-reporting it, so we really need to get this out. In kernel 2.6.18-274.7.1.el5 they changed the way a select() call to proc returns, and it totally breaks ruby. See https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/10418 and the red hat bug documented there. So when people say "puppet agent --test" works, but it hangs when run by a daemon -- it''s the kernel. -- Jo Rhett Net Consonance : consonant endings by net philanthropy, open source and other randomness -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. Is the kernel going to be fixed or is it now broken as designed? This is all covered in the bug details. Please track it there. They''ve already spun new kernels for testing, not sure when the new kernels will spin down into normal releases.
