Puppet users - Jan 2007 - Laptop/Offline Mode

Hello,

Is it possible to utilize puppet in an offline mode?

For example, if I use puppet to manage a connected laptop with remote file
sources, can the files be cached locally in a protected location for system
stability when not connected to the network?

Puppet caches its configuration automatically and will reuse that if  
it cannot contact the central server.

If you use templates instead of remote file copies, then that cache  
will have everything you need.  Remote file copies clearly won''t  
work, so avoid those if you''re planning on working in disconnected
mode.

I haven''t tested this very much, for the record.
