I am going to submit a proposal for a Xen BOF at DC18. Here is my first cut at a draft abstract: Title: Xen in Debian BoF Format: workshop with 25 min slot The Xen packages in Debian are in need of some work, including some tidying up, upstreaming of some Makefile patches, and updating to new versions. There is a large outstanding bug list. Also with the demise of Alioth and the change to maintainers, we will be talking about the future git maintence workflow. Come and stick your oar in. You can help influence the Xen maintainers' workflows, and our priorities. Let me know if you have any suggestions for improvements; whether you think I should ask for a 45 min slot; if you are interested enough to want me to get you added as a co-presenter; etc. Regards, Ian. -- Ian Jackson <ijackson at chiark.greenend.org.uk> These opinions are my own. If I emailed you from an address @fyvzl.net or @evade.org.uk, that is a private address which bypasses my fierce spamfilter.

I used the text from my previous mail (copied below). I chose the "cloud and containers" track. I think I can usefully update this at least any time until the 17th of June, so if you have any suggestions just let me know. Ian. What result are you aiming for? .. or .. What would you like to happen to call it a success? The description is mainly about sharing information about what kind of work needs to happen. How would you describe the target audience for that? I suspect that possible candidates to be interested in working on Xen in Debian are at least those who are using Xen themselves, and especially the ones who now already regularly rebuild the Debian packages with patches and additions of their own. Are those people at Debconf? Or do we hope that they will browse through the video archive? What are your ideas about this? Hans

What would you like to happen to call it a success?I think the audience is people who are interested in Xen in Debian and have opinions about how it should go forward, either because they intend to work on it, or because they consume it in a nontrivial way.> The description is mainly about sharing information about what kind of > work needs to happen.Yes.> How would you describe the target audience for that? I am hoping that enough of those people will be at Debconf that the session will be useful. If you have suggestions for how to improve the session, or the abstract (which I have now submitted, but I think I can still edit), please do let me know.
