[Pkg-exim4-users] main option bounce_message_file doesn''t workwith Exim4 in Debian
Hi Marc,
When fetchmail forward to an unknown user ("SMTP error: 550 unknown
user"), the same happens : no care about the customized bounce message.
Could we consider that as a bug ? If yes, do you know where I should
report it ?
Many thanks for your help,
Bruno

Ok, this is a bounce generated by exim.
> bounce_message_file = /etc/exim4/bouncemessage
And this is your correct configuration.
It could be a bug in exim that bouncemessage is not honored by exim
when SA-Exim rejects a message. Does your exim honor your
bouncemessage for a different bounce, such as "unknown user"?
I am afraid that I run out of ideas.
Greetings

This is a really locally generated bounce: 2007-08-12 22:03:06 1IKJeU-0001DP-UO <= mh at nechayev.example.org U=mh P=local S=337 2007-08-12 22:03:07 1IKJeU-0001DP-UO ** foo at torres.example.org R=hubbed_hosts T=remote_smtp: SMTP error from remote mail server after RCPT TO:<foo at torres.example.org>: host torres.example.org [85.214.68.41]: 550 Unrouteable address 2007-08-12 22:03:07 1IKJeV-0001DS-Ex <= <> R=1IKJeU-0001DP-UO U=Debian-exim P=local S=1300 2007-08-12 22:03:07 1IKJeU-0001DP-UO Completed 2007-08-12 22:03:07 1IKJeV-0001DS-Ex => mh <mh at nechayev.example.org> R=local_user T=mail_spool 2007-08-12 22:03:07 1IKJeV-0001DS-Ex Completed I am now pretty convinced that the bounces you see are not generated by exim. Can you show me full headers of such a bounce message? Greetings Marc -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc Haber | "I don''t trust Computers.
